Between 1990 and 2000, a very large population of Muslims community have made the United States their new home. Of those recent immigrants, majority of them are concentrated around the Twin Cities area. As the community grew, so did its needs.
Allah and the generous help of the community, Tawfiq Islamic Center in Northeast Minneapolis was collectively purchased. The establishment of this new community center served to preserve the American Muslim identity, the sociocultural and the linguistic needs of the community. From that very simple seed sown on that day, we now harvest children who started from Alif, the very first letter of the Noble Quran but who are now honored as Hafiz after having memorized the entire Quran by heart. It is these sort of noble and successful deeds that puts a smile on Muslim parents and inculcates a sense of confidence and responsibility on the kids themselves.
For the Muslim community in Saint Paul, the indispensable Islamic services offered at Tawfiq Islamic Center were difficult to obtain for logistical reasons. By 2010, it became the wisest decision for large number of muslims to come together and develop a strategic plan. The community announced the beginning of Towhid Islamic Center. This is the stepping stone where quality social, personal, spiritual, religious services and the scholars of the Holy Quran and the traditions of the Prophet (May the Peace and Blessings of Allaah be upon him) will be produced. Towhid is the invitation to One God, One Message, One People. We invite you too to join us in uniting humanity.
Indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me. 21:92]
To invite humanity to the call of One God.
To teach the Quran & To practice the Sunnah of the Prophet
To unite the community
To preserve our Muslim, sociocultural and the linguistic identity
